Find a suitable base for your pencil holder. Food canisters, ice cream tubs or sturdy plastic cups are some of the things you can use. |

If you have a really tall canister such as a Pringles can, just cut it in half and you can actually make 2 pencil holders. |

Combine 2 or more colors of self-hardening clay until you can see swirls of 2 or more colors. |

Apply the multi-colored clay onto a portion of the container. Do not spread the clay too thin. |

Continue this process using different colors of clay until you've completely covered the container. A relatively thick layer of clay is desirable for decorating the pencil holder with all sorts of small objects. |

Decorate your pencil holder by embedding small objects such as beads, sequins, buttons, rhinestones, etc. |

7. |
Let the clay set before using your pencil holder. |
