Use shape cut-outs to create a family of stick puppets and a simple box house for them to live in.
Materials Needed

- Young kids (3 to 8 years) should use child-safe scissors.

Steps

1. | Obtain a small flat box and paint it with your desired color of acrylic paint. | |

2. | Set the painted box aside to dry. | |

3. | While waiting for the painted box to dry, draw and cut out the following shapes from craft foam or construction paper:

4. | Draw faces on each of the 3 circles. | |

5. | Glue the corresponding hair on the heads of mom, dad, and the baby. | |

6. | Glue each of the small triangle, small rectangle, and oval separately on a craft stick. These will be the puppets' bodies. | |

7. | Glue the head on each of the craft sticks: mom (triangle), dad (rectangle), and baby (oval). | |

8. | Draw designs on each person's clothes such as a necktie for dad, flower prints on mom's dress and round buttons on baby's clothes. | |

9. | Once the painted box is dry, glue on the remaining shapes to complete the house. Remember we are decorating both panels of the box. Each panel should have a roof (big triangle), two windows (squares), and a door (medium rectangle). | |

10. | You may draw a door knob on each door. | |

11. | You've just made a family of puppets. Once you finish playing with them, keep them inside the box house. | |
