Paper Snowflakes (4- and 8-Sided)

Steps

	1.	Turn any rectangular piece of paper (e.g. A4 or Letter size copy paper) into a square by folding the top right corner diagonally down to meet the paper's left edge.
		Fold the excess paper up over the edge of the square. Unfold then cut along the crease.
		Unfold the triangle to reveal the paper square.
	2.	Fold the square in the middle.
	3.	Fold the resulting rectangle in the middle to obtain a smaller square.
	4.	Rotate the square so that it is oriented like a diamond. The tip corresponding to the paper's center (when unfolded) should be pointing downwards.
	5.	Fold the diamond vertically along the middle.
	6.	While keeping the paper folded, cut away shapes along the edges.
	7.	Carefully open up the paper to reveal your unique 4-sided snowflake.

	1.	The steps for an 8-sided snowflake are similar to those of a 4-sided one, except for one additional fold. Follow Steps 1 to 5 of the 4-sided snowflake instructions above. Notice that the triangle has two equal short sides and one long side.
	2.	Bring the short side that is closest to the bottom towards the triangle's long side. Crease along the fold.
	3.	Cut above the straight edge.
	4.	Cut away shapes along the edges of the folded paper.
