1. |
Paint the paper cup with brown poster paint. If your paper cup has a glossy surface, use acrylic paint. |
2. |
Paint crisscrossing lines like a waffle-weave pattern all around the cup. |
3. |
Tear up some newspapers (or any paper) into strips and crumple them up. Fill the ice cream cone ¾ of the way with these crumpled strips of paper. |
4. |
Decide on what flavors you want your ice cream to be. Make two colors of salt dough, appropriately matching the flavors you like (e.g. pink dough for strawberry, green for mint, yellow for mango, brown for chocolate, etc). You may also use self-hardening clay instead of salt dough. |
5. |
Roll the dough into balls. Place the first dough ball into the ice cream cone to make your first scoop. |
6. |
Place the second dough ball on top of the first. |
7. |
Dispense some shaving foam on top to make whipped cream. |
8. |
Decorate with small beads to mimic candy sprinkles. |
9. |
Sharpen brown or pink crayon and use the shavings to create chocolate or strawberry flakes. |
10. |
Make some fake chocolate or strawberry syrup by mixing up some brown or pink poster paint with white glue. Dispense in a squeeze bottle and squeeze some syrup around your ice cream sundae. |
11. |
Add a cherry topping using a red pom-pom, a large red bead or red-colored dough. Remember, this project is only pretend ice cream and is not edible! |
