Separate the husk from the corn. Set the husk aside for later. | ||

2. | Make an outline of a corn on a sheet of paper. A fun way to do this is to trace around the actual corn itself (Younger children can work by pairs). You may also print out this corn pattern or draw the outline yourself. | |

Cut the corn into halves and skewer each corn through a stick or dowel. Snip off the pointed edge on each stick, if there are any. | ||

4. | Take one corn and paint its entire surface yellow, making sure to paint all of the kernels. *Add only a minimal amount of water to the paint, just enough to make it spreadable. Runny paint will not stick to the corn kernels. |

5. | Roll the corn back and forth on the paper until you have covered the area inside the corn outline. Reapply paint onto the corn when the prints become too light. | |

6. | Obtain a piece of corn husk. Make corn husk prints following these steps:

7. | Make 2 or more corn husk prints. | |

8. | Once the paint dries, cut out the corn husk prints. | |

9. | As well as the paper corn cob. | |

10. | Glue a pair of corn husk pieces on either side of the corn. | |

11. | You may glue 2 more corn husk pieces at the back. | |

12. | If you wish to, you can trim the sides of the husk to add curves or shape it more to your liking. | |

13. | That's it! These paper corn decorations are great for sprucing up any room for an autumn/Thanksgiving theme or you may put them together inside a paper basket. | |

Allow kids to explore colors and patterns by making random corn prints. Provide a large sheet of paper where they can enjoy rolling the corn and making multi-colored corn prints. *It's best to assign 1 corn per color of paint to avoid making muddy-colored corn prints. |
