Paper Cup Bell
Make a Christmas bell out of a paper cup. Decorate your room for the holidays with this lovely bell or use it as a working musical instrument for performances and class activities.
- Watch out for this sign . It means adult help is needed for the particular step.
|1.||Use a pencil to punch a small hole at the bottom of a paper cup.|
|2.||Paint the paper cup with poster paint or if it cup has a glossy or waxy surface, use acrylic paint.
Gold, silver or red are great for making a Christmas-themed bell.
|3.||For added sparkle, you may sprinkle some glitter while the paint is still wet.
*Or you may brush over a layer of glitter glue after the paint has dried.
|4.||Create the pendulum by making a small loop on one end of a pipe cleaner. Attach a 3-inch long string to the loop.|
|5.||Connect a round bell at the end of the string. Use a larger bell than shown in photo if you want your finished craft to be a usable/working bell.|
|6.||Insert the free end of the pipe cleaner through the hole at the base of the paper cup. Insert all the way through until the entire length of the pipe cleaner is pulled out. The loop you made earlier on the pipe cleaner will provide as a stopper.|
|7.||String 1 big bead through the pipe cleaner.|
|8.||Loop the pipe cleaner and fasten it just above the bead.|
|9.||Cut a satin ribbon and tie it into a bow above the bead.|
|10.||Hang the bell as a Christmas tree ornament or use it as a musical instrument for Christmas performances and class activites.|
|Make a beaded paper cup bell. String several beads before making the loop (as shown in photo) or string the beads along the entire loop handle.|
|Instead of tying the ribbon into a bow, you can also make some flowing fabric ribbons on top of the bell.
