Box Living Room
Recycle boxes and paper cups into a cozy miniature living room.

Steps

1. | Find boxes to turn into your living room's sofa and chairs. Square ones are great for the chairs and a bigger rectangular box is needed for the sofa. Scout for smaller boxes for all the of seat's back rest. Tape any open flaps for each of the boxes. | |

Ask an adult to help you gift wrap the boxes. Match the colors of the chairs with the rug and other furniture you plan to add. | |

3. | Assemble and glue the matching boxes to form the sofa and chairs. | |

Cut Styrofoam board or illustration board for your living room's base. | |

5. | Cut a slightly smaller rectangle from gift wrap paper to make a living room rug. Glue it at the center of the Styrofoam board. | |

6. | Glue the sofa and chairs onto the board base. | |

7. | Trim off 3 paper cups until they are about 2 ½ inches in height. Paint the paper cups with colors that compliment your living room color scheme. | |

8. | Glue one of the painted paper cups in the middle of the living room set. This will serve as the base for the coffee table. | |

9. | Draw and cut a circle from construction paper. Glue it on top of the paper cup to complete the coffee table. | |

10. | Fill the 2 remaining painted paper cups with sand. We are going to make these into flower pots. | |

11. | Create leaves by cutting leaf shapes from green construction paper. Plant the leaves into the sand. | |

12. | You may also use green feathers as leaves. | |

13. | Make some flowers by cutting flower shapes from craft foam or construction paper. Glue a green drinking straw at the back of each flower. Plant each stemmed flower at the center of the flower pot. | |

14. | Position the flower pots on both sides of the sofa. Glue them onto the board base. | |

15. | To make pillows, cut two identical-sized squares from craft foam. Glue the two squares along three sides. Let the glue dry thoroughly. If you use glue gun, the adhesive will dry almost instantly. | |

16. | Decorate one side of each pillow by drawing patterns with crayons or puffy paint. | |

17. | Once the glue (and puffy paint, if you used them) is dry, stuff the pillows with cotton. Do not overstuff to avoid the seams from opening. Seal the fourth side with white glue or glue gun. | |

18. | Position the pillows on the sofa and tape them in place. | |
