1. |
Turn a paper bowl over. Draw 2 parallel lines running along the center of the bowl, approximately 2.5 to 3 inches apart. |
2. |
Cut along both lines. The resulting piece looks like an arched bridge. |
3. |
Punch 6 pairs of holes along the edges of the bridge. |
4. |
Obtain a paper plate with approximately the same diameter as the paper bowl. Draw a stream along its center. |
5. |
Position the bridge on top of the paper plate in such a way that the stream flows right below the bridge. Staple both ends of the bridge onto the edges of the paper plate. |
6. |
Paint stripes on top of the bridge. |
7. |
Prepare green and blue salt dough or use ready-made modeling clay or self-hardening clay. Apply a generous layer of the green salt dough or clay to line the banks of the stream. |
8. |
Put blue salt dough or clay to fill the stream. |
9. |
Cut drinking straws into different lengths: four 5-inch long pieces, four 4-inch long pieces, and four 3-inch long pieces. |
10. |
Insert the 5-inch long drinking straws through the four center-most holes on the bridge, and the 4 inch-long drinking straws adjacent to the 5-inch long ones. Anchor the bottom end of each drinking straw deep into the clay or dough. |
11. |
Insert the 3-inch long drinking straws through the outermost holes on the bridge. |
12. |
Cut pipe cleaner into 3-inch long pieces. Use one piece to link one drinking straw to another. Bend both ends of the pipe cleaner and insert each end into a drinking straw. |
13. |
Make the last 4 pipe cleaner pieces into an L-shape and insert each one into a corner drinking straw. |
14. |
You've just finished constructing a mini bridge. You can add a paper doll to create a pedestrian for your bridge. |
