1. | The witch's head will be made out of Styrofoam ball; the body from a paper cup or a Styrofoam cup. Try to find the appropriate size for both materials that will make the head and body well-proportioned. *The Styrofoam ball that I used is around 2 inches in diameter while the paper cup is about 3.75 inches high. |

2. | Paint half of the Styrofoam ball with a skin-toned color. Light skin tones can be achieved by adding a bit of brown or orange to white acrylic paint. Dark skin tones can be attained by adding a bit of black to brown or orange paint. You can even give your witch an olive or greenish skin tone by adding a bit of black to green paint. Set the painted ball aside to dry.

3. | Draw a pair of arms on black construction paper.

4. | Cut out both arms. Paint the hands with the same color of paint that you used for the face in Step 2.

5. | Glue the arms onto the paper cup body.

Use a black permanent marker to draw a face on the painted Styrofoam ball. Use a hot glue gun to attach the head on top of the paper cup body. You may use white glue but it will take a lot longer to dry.

7. | Cut crepe paper into strips. Crumple up the strips before gluing them onto the head to make hair.

You can also use cotton to make white hair for an old witch.

8. | The hat that we will make is a miniature version of this witch hat. First make the brim by cutting out a circle from black construction paper. Mine is about 3.5 inches across but of course yours may need to be bigger or smaller depending on the size of the Styrofoam ball that you used. Cut out a hole at the center (mine is about 1.75 inches across) of the brim. Try fitting the brim on the witch's head. Widen the hole if necessary. |

To make the cone-shaped part of the hat, cut out a half-circle from black construction paper. Mine is about 5 inches in diameter. Form the half circle into a cone. The cone's base should be somewhat wider than the brim's hole. Staple the edges in place. |

Before you go any further, try fitting the brim through the cone. It should reach almost to the base of the cone. If the fit is not quite right, you may unstaple the cone and adjust the size of the cone's base. Another option you can do is to widen the brim's hole.

11. | Remove the brim. Cut fringes along the bottom of the cone. Fold up the fringes.

12. | Apply glue around the brim's hole. Insert the brim from the top of the cone. The brim's side with the glue should be facing down. Press on the joint to allow the fringes on the cone to stick firmly onto the brim.

13. | Finally, put the hat on the witch's head. You may glue it in place if you like. This cute witch can go along with a favorite Halloween story or you can make more of them as fun Halloween decorations. |
