1. |
If you want a pattern for drawing your Christmas stocking, print out this Christmas stocking template on A4 or Letter size paper. Cut out the pattern. |
2. |
Prepare a sheet of construction paper that is at least twice the width of the stocking pattern or your stocking's intended size. |
3. |
Fold the construction paper in the middle. |
4. |
Align the pattern's straight edge along the construction paper's folded edge. Trace the outline of the pattern onto the construction paper. |
5. |
While keeping the paper folded in the middle, cut out the stocking shape. |
6. |
Unfold the stocking. Apply glue along the edges of the stocking except on the top edge. |
7. |
Fold the stocking along the middle crease and press along the sides to glue the edges in place. |
8. |
Decorate your stocking as you please. You can cut out images from old Christmas greeting cards or gift wrap paper; draw your own Christmas images; or cut out basic shapes (e.g. triangles, rectangles, circles) and put them together like I did.
You can glue on accents such as sequins, little bows, stickers, rhinestones, buttons, paper cut outs, beads and other decorative materials.

9. |
As an option, you can punch a hole on the top corner of your stocking and loop a string or ribbon around the hole to make a handle. |
10. |
When the glue dries, hang up the paper stocking as a charming Christmas décor. If this project is done as a class, children can slip in Christmas greeting cards or handmade Christmas gifts into each other's Christmas stockings. |
