Poinsettia Ornament

Craft a beautiful Christmas poinsettia flower ornament using a pipe cleaner and some paper or felt.	Safety Tips Small materials like buttons or beads are choking hazards. Not suitable for use by kids below the age of three. Watch out for this sign . It means adult help is needed for the particular step.
Materials Red and green paper or felt Scissors Pencil Pipe cleaner White glue Gold beads or buttons (optional) Gold poster paint or acrylic paint (optional)

Steps

	1.	Print out this poinsettia template on A4 or Letter size paper. *If you chose to print out the colored poinsettia template, go directly to Step 3.
	2.	There are two ways to use the template: Option 1: Color or paint the template pieces (red for the flowers and green for the leaf). These template pieces will be used to make the actual poinsettia flowers.
		Option 2: Cut out 1 flower template and 1 leaf template. Trace around the flower template twice on red paper or felt and the leaf template once on green paper or felt.
	3.	Cut out the poinsettia flowers and leaf. *For the colored poinsettia template, cut out the four small golden circles as well.
	4.	Glue the 2 flowers together. Position the flowers in such a way that the first flower's petals stick out from the spaces in between the second flower's petals.
	5.	Glue the leaf behind the second flower. Position the leaf so that its points stick out from the poinsettia's petals.
	6.	With all pieces in place, punch a pair of holes at the center of the poinsettia. If you are working on a felt poinsettia, you will have to punch holes one felt layer at a time.
	7.	Bend a pipe cleaner in the middle and insert the ends through the pair of holes.
	8.	Carefully pull the pipe cleaner all the way through until only the folded section of the pipe cleaner is visible from the top.
	9.	Scout around for gold-colored materials that you can glue (use white glue or tacky glue) at the center of the poinsettia. Here are some ideas: Golden beads or sequins (top photo) Gold buttons Gold candy foil rolled into balls Paper rolled into little balls and painted gold (bottom photo) For the colored poinsettia template, glue the 4 golden round circles included in the template After gluing all the little golden decorations onto the center of your poinsettia, set your project aside to dry.
	10.	Your poinsettia project would make a terrific Christmas tree ornament or Christmas wreath decoration.
