Cut out an egg shape from construction paper and use this as a pattern for tracing several egg shapes on a transparency film. Use a permanent marker for tracing. |
 |
2. |
Draw designs on the eggs. |

An alternative to Steps 1 and 2 is to print out this Easter egg template. Put it under the transparency film and trace on the eggs, including the designs. |

Glass paint is the ideal medium for painting on plastic film. However, we will show you how to make a homemade version. Dispense liquid (or clear) glue on your palette. |

Add 1 to 2 drops of food coloring and mix. You can add more food coloring to achieve deeper hues. |

Some tips for painting the eggs:
- Use a fine-tipped brush.
- If you think the paint is too light-colored, add more food coloring to achieve deeper hues.
- Do not overload your brush with paint since this will result in colors mixing on the eggs.
- Use cotton swabs to "erase" the paint and start over.

Toddlers and younger kids can join in as well. Let them paint on the eggs with 1 color and use their fingers or cotton swabs to make dots and stripes. |
 |
8. |
When you're done painting, set the eggs aside to dry. |
 |
9. |
Once the paint is dry, cut out the eggs. The homemade glass paint is water-based so try not to handle the eggs with moist hands. |

Use double-sided tape to stick the egg sun catchers on glass windows or panels. |
