Ghost Trick-or-Treat Bucket

  • Young kids (3 to 8 years) should use child-safe scissors.
  • Keep the hole punch out of children's reach.
  • Watch out for this sign Ask for an adult's help. It means an adult's help is needed for the particular step.

Steps

Step 1 Ghost Trick-or-Treat Bucket Ask for an adult's help1. Print out this template for the ghost trick-or-treat bucket. We will use these template pieces to draw the ready-to-fold bucket pattern.

You may also draw your own bucket pattern by referring to Step 5.
Step 2 Ghost Trick-or-Treat Bucket 2. Cut out the template pieces.
Step 3 Ghost Trick-or-Treat Bucket 3. Make sure you have a large piece of white construction paper at least 18 in. x 15 in. in size. Trace the square three times to make a straight row of squares at the center of the construction paper.
Step 4 Ghost Trick-or-Treat Bucket 4. Trace the square with flaps on both sides of the middle square.
Step 5 Ghost Trick-or-Treat Bucket 5. Trace the ghost arm template twice.
Step 6 Ghost Trick-or-Treat Bucket 6. Cut out the bucket pattern, including the ghost arms.
Step 7 Ghost Trick-or-Treat Bucket Ask for an adult's help7. Make a slit at the center of each flapped square. The length of the slit should be the same as the length of the base of a ghost arm.
Step 8 Ghost Trick-or-Treat Bucket 8. Crease the bucket pattern along the joints as well as the flaps.
Step 9 Ghost Trick-or-Treat Bucket 9. Flip the bucket pattern over and draw a ghost's face on each of the two opposite squares without slits (and without side flaps).
Step 10 Ghost Trick-or-Treat Bucket 10. Apply glue or use double-sided tape on each of the 4 flaps. Remove the paper from the double-sided tape.
Step 11 Ghost Trick-or-Treat Bucket 11. Assemble the pattern into a cube shape by sticking each flap to the side of the adjacent square.
Step 12 Ghost Trick-or-Treat Bucket 12. Tape the flaps from inside to reinforce your bucket.
Step 13 Ghost Trick-or-Treat Bucket 13. Fold the base of each ghost arm to create a flap and insert this flap through the slit on the bucket.
Step 14 Ghost Trick-or-Treat Bucket 14. Tape each ghost arm flap from inside the bucket.
Step 15 Ghost Trick-or-Treat Bucket 15. Punch a hole on either side of the bucket, right above each ghost arm.
Step 16 Ghost Trick-or-Treat Bucket Ask for an adult's help16. Insert one end of a pipe cleaner on one of the holes and knot it securely in place
Step 17 Ghost Trick-or-Treat Bucket 17. String 4 to 5 beads along the pipe cleaner.
Step 18 Ghost Trick-or-Treat Bucket Ask for an adult's help18. Finish up with your ghost trick-or-treat bucket by fastening the other pipe cleaner end around the opposite hole.
