1. |
Cut out an oval or rectangular shape from a piece of cardboard to make the mummy's head. Glue the head to the end of a craft stick. |
2. |
Use three more craft sticks together with the first one to form a basic stick figure. |
You can play around with the position of the craft sticks to create funny poses for your mummy. You can make yours look like a walking mummy.
*Adult help is needed when cutting craft sticks. |
3. |
As an option, you may cut out a rectangle or a trapezoid to make the mummy's torso a little bit thicker. Once you have decided on your mummy’s final pose, glue the craft sticks and the cardboard parts together. Allow the glue to dry completely. |
4. |
Cut gauze or white crepe paper into manageable lengths, somewhere around 12 to 18 inches per strip. Glue the end of the strip onto the mummy's head. |
5. |
Start wrapping the gauze or crepe paper around the head until the cardboard and the craft stick are covered. Slowly work your way down the mummy's body. When you reach the end of the strip, glue it in place or tuck it under your next strip. |
6. |
Continue wrapping the mummy with gauze or crepe paper until it is completely covered. When you reach the end of an arm or leg, glue the end of the gauze or crepe paper in place. |
7. |
Paint the area around the eyes with black poster or acrylic paint (easily done with a cotton swab). Glue a pair of wiggle eyes on top of the painted section. You may paint on a mouth if you like. |
8. |
Allow the paint and glue to dry before playing with your mummy. |
