Obtain the desired colors of self-hardening clay that you want to use. |
 |
2. |
The easiest way to form clay into alphabet letters is to mold clay into long sausage-shaped pieces. |
 |
3. |
Form the sausage-shaped clay into a letter "D" to start off your D-A-D keychain or mold it into the first letter of the name that you're spelling. |
 |
4. |
Instead of proceeding with the other clay letters, it's best to make a link for your keychain before your first clay letter starts to set. Loop a 2-inch long piece of pipe cleaner or craft wire on one end. Carefully insert the straight end of the pipe cleaner into the middle section of your first clay letter. Push it into the clay until the loop touches the clay. Pat the clay around the area where the link enters and exits the clay to fix the link in place. |

Make more clay letters to spell out "dad" or the name that you're working on. |
 |
6. |
Glue the letters together with white glue. Allow the glue and the letters to set overnight. |
 |
7. |
Once the clay has set, fold down the protruding tip of the pipe cleaner. |
 |
8. |
As easy as that, you have just made a special name clay keychain.
Your dad or mom will surely appreciate carrying around this thoughtful handmade gift from you! |
