Materials

  • Printable card stock
  • Scissors
  • Cellophane paper
  • Glue
  • Pencil
  • Things to decorate your eyeglasses: glitter glue, puffy paint, small foam shapes, stickers, rhinestones, etc.

Steps

Step 1 Fun Glasses craft 1. Print out any of these eyeglasses templates on heavy card stock. You can use paper or light card stock but you will need to glue your print-out onto cardboard or a second sheet of card stock.
Step 2 Fun Glasses craft 2. Color the eyeglasses frame. Remember to leave out the rim's side flaps uncolored. If you printed out the template on colored card stock, you may skip the coloring step altogether, and proceed to Step 3.
Step 3 Fun Glasses craft 3. Cut all three template pieces. Cut out the eyeholes on the rim as well.

*After cutting, if you think that your eyeglasses are somewhat flimsy, you can still glue the template pieces onto cardboard and cut them out again.
Step 4 Fun Glasses craft 4. Crease the rim's side flaps by folding them towards the back.
Step 5 Fun Glasses craft 5. Unfold the flaps and glue each temple piece (the part that goes behind the ears) onto a side flap.

*The pair of temple pieces may be too long for smaller kids. You may tape them temporarily, try on the glasses and trim the temple pieces along the straight end to achieve the perfect length.
Step 6 Fun Glasses craft 6. You can decorate your eyeglasses further with glitter glue, stickers, small punched-out shapes, puffy paint, rhinestones, or other decorative materials. If you used glitter glue or puffy paint, you need to wait for it to dry on your eyeglasses before proceeding with the next step.
Step 7 Fun Glasses craft 7. Cut cellophane paper to make the lenses. Make sure to measure against the eyeholes of your frame.
Step 8 Fun Glasses craft 8. At the back of your eyeglasses, apply glue around the eyeholes and stick on the cellophane lens.
Step 9 Fun Glasses craft 9. Let the glue dry before wearing your fun pair of glasses.
