Ancient Egyptian Bracelet
Make an Egyptian bracelet or armband out of a toilet paper tube and a few other materials.

Egyptian Bracelet craft

Materials

  • Toilet paper tube or any cardboard canister
    (e.g. Pringles)
  • Acrylic paint (white and gold)
  • Paint brush
  • White glue or tacky glue
  • Paper, yarn, beans, seeds, little stones

Steps

Step 1 Egyptian Bracelet craft Ask for an adult's help1. Cut a toilet paper tube vertically. The slit will allow you to wear the paper tube on your wrist or arm.

Step 2 Egyptian Bracelet craft Ask for an adult's help *If a paper tube is a bit small for your wrist or arm, use a cardboard food canister (e.g. Pringles). You will first need to cut off the base before cutting a slit along the canister's height (same as the step above).

Step 3 Egyptian Bracelet craft 3. Try on the paper tube. You may further trim it down until you achieve the desired width.
Step 4 Egyptian Bracelet craft 4. Create embossing or raised features on your bracelet by gluing on materials such as paper. You can roll paper into a long strip to line the edges of the bracelet. Small bits of paper can also be rolled tightly into little balls and glued on as detailing on the bracelet.
Step 5a Egyptian Bracelet craft 5. Other materials that can be glued on include yarn, string, paper twine, tissue paper, beans, seeds, or little stones. You may even cut out shapes out of cardboard and glue them on as well.  When done, set the bracelet aside to dry.

*Use tacky glue instead of regular white glue for attaching heavier materials like beans and small stones.
Step 6 Egyptian Bracelet craft 6. After the glue has set completely, prime the entire surface of the bracelet with white acrylic paint.

*Priming the bracelet with white acrylic paint is essential if you use a printed or glossy surface as the base (e.g. Pringles canister). Otherwise you may go without a primer and paint the bracelet directly with gold acrylic or poster paint.
Step 7 Egyptian Bracelet craft 7. Once the white acrylic paint dries, paint the bracelet with gold acrylic or poster paint.
Step 8 Egyptian Bracelet craft 8. Wait for the paint to dry before trying on your golden Egyptian bracelet or armband.
