Chinese Hat with Braid

Add more character to your Chinese Hat craft by adding a braid made from yarn.

Materials Needed

  • Yarn
  • Scissors
  • Board
  • Chinese hat

Steps

Step 1 Braided Yarn Hair Ask for an adult's help1. Decide on how long you want the braid to be. Find a stiff board that is approximately the same length as your intended braid. Wound the yarn at least 20 times around the boards's longer side.
Step 2 Braided Yarn Hair 2. Cut the end of the yarn from the main yarn ball.
Step 3 Braided Yarn Hair 3. Carefully remove the yarn loops from the board, making sure to retain their shape.
Step 4 Braided Yarn Hair 4. Tie one end of the yarn hair with a short piece of yarn or string.
Step 5 Braided Yarn Hair 5. Cut the loops on the opposite side.
Step 6 Braided Yarn Hair Ask for an adult's help6. Make a hole on top of your Chinese hat and insert the tied end of the yarn hair.
Step 7 Braided Yarn Hair 7. Braid the yarn.
Step 8 Braided Yarn Hair 8. Tie the end of the braid with a short piece of yarn.
