Chinese Hat with Braid

Add more character to your Chinese Hat project by adding a braid made out of yarn.	Safety Tips Young kids (3 to 8 years) should use child-safe scissors. Watch out for this sign . It means an adult's help is needed for the particular step.
Materials Self-hardening clay Pipe cleaner or craft wire Transparency film Stretch wrap or any plastic sheet Scissors Coin Photo

Steps

	1.	Decide on how long you want the braid to be. Find a stiff board that is approximately the same length as your intended braid. Wound the yarn at least 20 times around the boards's longer side.
	2.	Cut the end of the yarn from the main yarn ball.
	3.	Carefully remove the yarn loops from the board, making sure to retain their shape.
	4.	Tie one end of the yarn hair with a short piece of yarn or string.
	5.	Cut the loops on the opposite side.
	6.	Make a hole on top of your Chinese hat and insert the tied end of the yarn hair.
	7.	Braid the yarn.
	8.	Tie the end of the braid with a short piece of yarn.
