Vehicle Puppets

Create different kinds of vehicle stick puppets and move them along a picture.	Safety Tips Young kids (3 to 8 years) should use child-safe scissors. Keep the craft knife out of children's reach. Watch out for this sign . It means an adult's help is needed for the particular step.
Materials Construction paper Craft sticks or drinking straws Scissors Glue stick Scotch tape Poster paint or crayons Paint brushes Craft knife Pencil Black marker

Steps

	1.	Draw a straight or curved line along the bottom portion of your sketch paper. This will be the road where the vehicle puppet can move along. You can choose to have a straight road, a hilly road or an inclined one.
	2.	Draw some background images.
	3.	Color in your picture with paint and/or crayons.
	4.	Make a slit along the road, leaving a 1.5 to 2 inch margin on both ends.
	5.	Draw your favorite vehicle, color and cut it out. We also have a printable vehicle template that you might find useful. *If you want to integrate shapes learning, cut out the vehicle parts from basics shapes and glue them together.
	6.	Tape a craft stick or drinking straw at the back of the vehicle puppet.
	7.	Make more vehicle puppets such as a car, bus, truck, or bicycle.
	8.	To move the vehicle puppet along the picture, insert the puppet's handle through the slit so that the end sticks out from the bottom of the paper. This will allow you to hold and move the puppet along the length of the road.
	9.	Besides learning about different kinds of vehicles, this craft can also be used as a visual in learning about movements such as forward/back, up/down, and stop/go.
