Materials

  • Blue or gray construction paper
  • White construction paper
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Pencil
  • Wiggle eye

Safety Tips

  • Small craft materials such as wiggle eyes are choking hazards. These are not suitable for children below the age of three.

Steps

Step 1 Whale o' Hearts Greeting Card craft 1. Fold a blue or gray-colored sheet of construction paper in the middle. Draw half a heart shape along the paper's folded edge. This will be the whale's body.
Step 2 Whale o' Hearts Greeting Card craft 2. While keeping the paper folded, cut along the outlines. When unfolded, you would see that the paper shape is a heart!
Step 3 Whale o' Hearts Greeting Card craft 3. Transform the folded heart into a whale by positioning it in a horizontal position, with its straight edge along the bottom and the opening on top.
Step 4 Whale o' Hearts Greeting Card craft 4. Cut out a smaller heart for the tail and glue this at the back of the whale, close to the tip.
Step 5 Whale o' Hearts Greeting Card craft 5. To make the water that spouts out from the whale's blowhole, make a smaller heart shape (follow steps 1 and 2) out of white construction paper or card stock.
Step 6 Whale o' Hearts Greeting Card craft 6. Draw an arc (or a hook) from the top of the folded heart shape down to the tip.
Step 7 Whale o' Hearts Greeting Card craft 7. Cut along this arc. Unfold the shape.
Step 8 Whale o' Hearts Greeting Card craft 8. Glue this shape at the back of the whale, close to the top edge.
Step 9 Whale o' Hearts Greeting Card craft 9. Glue on a wiggle eye and draw the whale's mouth.
Step 10 Whale o' Hearts Greeting Card craft 10. Finally, open your whale greeting card and write your greeting or message inside.
