Paint and decorate a paper cup into a fun carrot treat holder for Easter.

Materials

  • Paper cup
  • Orange acrylic paint or tempera paint
  • Card stock or construction paper
  • Paint brush
  • White glue
  • Scissors
  • Ribbon or string (optional)

Steps

Step 1 Carrot Treat Holder craft 1. Paint the outside of a paper cup with orange acrylic or tempera paint. Acrylic paint is recommended if your cup has a glossy surface.
Step 2 Carrot Treat Holder craft 2. Use a darker shade of orange (mix a bit of brown or red to orange paint) to paint short horizontal lines all around the cup. You can use a paint brush or finger paint the lines.
Step 3 Carrot Treat Holder craft 3. Cut out 10 or more strips out of green construction paper or card stock. My strips are about ¾" wide and 3" long. You can adjust yours depending on the size of your paper cup.
Step 4 Carrot Treat Holder craft 4. Glue the strips along the inside of the cup's mouth.
Step 5 Carrot Treat Holder craft 5. Once the glue dries, fill the cup with candy and Easter goodies. The taller your cup is, the more treats you can put in!

Carrot treat holder with handle Ask for an adult's help. To add a handle, punch a pair of opposite holes close to the cup's mouth (best done before painting the paper cup). Try to avoid covering the holes when gluing on the paper strips around the cup. After you've glued on all the paper strips, cut a length of ribbon or string and fasten its ends around the holes.
