Steps

Step 1 Fruit Prints Placemat 1. Cut canvas or cotton fabric into placemat-sized pieces. Stitch the edges of each placemat.
Step 2a Fruit Prints Placemat Ask for an adult's help.2. You may choose one or a combination of these fruits- apples, oranges, or lemons. Cut oranges and lemons crosswise in half. Slice apples lengthwise in half.

Try to cut as straight as you can to ensure that the fruit slice will pick up paint more evenly.
Step 2b Fruit Prints Placemat Ask for an adult's help. As an option, you may carve out a handle on the top portion of each apple half.
Step 3 Fruit Prints Placemat 3. Put some fabric paint onto a tray or flat palette. You may line your tray or palette with plastic wrap for convenience - it's easy to change colors and no need to clean the palette/tray afterwards.

Add just a little bit of water to the paint and mix thoroughly.
