Create a fun paper basket and fill it with lots of paper fruits. Printable basket and fruit templates are included for super easy crafting.
Draw and cut out different fruits from drawing paper, white cardstock or white construction paper. You can also print out any or all of these fruit templates on A4 or Letter size cardstock:
Prepare tempera or poster paint on your palette. Use the appropriate colors to match your fruits (red for apples, purple for grapes, etc.). Add some water to each color and mix well.
As a sensory experience, you can add a little fruit juice powder to each color of paint. Add more water as needed and mix well.
Paint with fruit juice powder will dry with a fruity smell and a shiny slightly gritty finish.
Have fun painting the fruits. Once you've painted all the fruits, set them aside to dry.
Print out the Large Basket Template on A4 or Letter size cardstock. Cut out both basket template pieces—the main basket piece and the handle.
You can also draw and cut out your own basket out of construction paper.
Glue the ends of the handle behind the main basket.
Cut construction paper into a size that fits the basket. This will be your fruit basket picture's background.
Apply glue at the back of the basket—along the edges and the handle. Leave out the basket's top edge, this side should be open so that you can put the fruits inside the basket.
Glue the basket onto the background paper. Press on the edges to glue in place.
Decorate the basket with whatever craft materials you have. Glitter glue, small craft shapes, stickers, sequins, paper cut-outs, ribbons, are just some of the things you can use.
Once the painted fruits are dry, place them inside the basket.
Instead of gluing the basket onto background paper, you can make a paper basket that you can hold and tote along. See how to make one in our Basket of Flowers craft.
