1Prepare a paper cup.

A plain white paper cup is the best choice for making a paper cup ghost. However, any paper cup will do as you can always paint it white!

2Paint the paper cup.

If your paper cup isn't plain white, paint it white using tempera, poster paint, or acrylic paint. Use acrylic paint if the surface of the paper cup is glossy. Set the painted paper cup aside to dry.

3Draw a pair of arms.

Keeping in mind the size of your paper cup, draw a pair of ghost arms on white construction paper or cardstock.

4Cut out the arms.

Cut out the pair of ghost arms.

5Punch a hole on the cup.

Once your painted paper cup is dry, use the tip of a pencil to punch a small center hole at the bottom of the cup.

6Cut a piece of string.

Cut a length of string to make into a handle for your paper cup ghost. Mine is around 10 inches. If you want to hang the ghost from the ceiling, cut a longer string.

Make a large knot on one end of the string. The knot should be larger than the hole you made on your paper cup in Step 5.

7Attach the string.

Insert the opposite end of the string through the hole from inside the paper cup. Pull the string all the way until the knot touches the bottom of the cup.

8Glue one arm.

Fold one paper arm at the base to create a tab. Glue the tab onto the paper cup.

9Glue the other arm.

Similarly fold the other ghost arm at the base to create a tab. Glue this arm on the opposite side of the cup. Your paper cup now looks somewhat like a ghost!

10Create a face.

Draw a pair of eyes and a mouth using a black permanent marker or crayon. Another option is to glue a pair of wiggle eyes and a mouth cut from paper, craft foam or felt.

11Cut strips of crepe paper.

Cut white crepe paper or a white plastic bag into six or more strips approximately 1 inch wide and 10 inches long.

12Glue ths strips.

Glue one end of each strip around the inside of the paper cup's mouth.
