3D Goldfish Bowl
Create a pretend fish bowl out of a paper plate and craft a cute goldfish using craft foam. Decorate your fish bowl with colored pebbles, sand, crepe paper, and other fun details.
Supplies Needed
- Large paper plate
- Blue tempera paint or poster paint
- Paint brush
- Orange craft foam
- Cotton
- Wiggle eye
- Green and purple crepe paper
- Sand or small colored pebbles
- White glue or tacky glue
- Glue gun (optional)
STEPS
1 Paint the paper plate.
Turn a paper plate into a fish bowl by painting it blue. Paint some waves using a different shade of blue. Let the paint dry completely.
2 Make a pair of craft foam fishes.
Draw and cut out a pair of almost-identical goldfish shapes out of craft foam. The difference between the two is that one has the top and bottom fins and the other one doesn't.
3 Apply glue on one fish.
Apply white glue or tacky glue all around the edges of the finned goldfish, except along the base of its top fin. This small gap will allow you to stuff the goldfish later.
4 Glue the pair together.
Place the other fish shape on top, aligning the two pieces along the edges. Press for a few seconds then set aside to dry.
5 Decorate the paper plate.
Meanwhile, decorate your paper plate. Glue some sand or small pebbles at the bottom. Cut green and purple crepe paper into long strips and glue them as seaweed.
6 Stuff the goldfish.
Check on your goldfish. Once the glue has set completely, stuff some cotton through the opening at the base of the top fin. Do not overstuff to avoid the seams from bursting.
7 Seal the gap.
Seal the gap with white glue or tacky glue. Press on the seams for at least 30 seconds. If you need a stronger adhesive, use a glue gun.
8 Decorate the goldfish.
Glue a wiggle eye or cut out a circles from craft foam and glue them as the eye. Draw patterns on the body using markers or undiluted tempera or poster paint. Fingerpainting the dots and lines is a super fun idea!
9 Glue the goldfish.
Finally, glue the goldfish at the center of the paper plate fish bowl.
