Zooming Pens
This fun toy car activity involves both art and play for toddlers and preschoolers. Simply fasten colored markers to toy cars and let kids zoom away with colorful lines.
Supplies Needed
- Large sheet of paper
- Toy cars
- Washable colored markers
- Transparent tape or masking tape
- Mat or newspapers
STEPS
1 Prepare the paper and toy cars.
Place a large sheet of paper at the center of your mat. Prepare three or more medium-sized toy cars as well.
2 Tape a colored marker at the back.
Position one colored marker at the back of a toy car. The marker's tip must be level with the bottom of the wheels. Tape the marker in place.
3 Try drawing with the car.
Place the car on your paper and take it for a test drive. The marker should be drawing clear colored tracks as the car moves. Adjust the position of the marker, if necessary.
4 Tape more colored markers.
Tape a colored marker at the back of each remaining toy car.
5 Draw with the toy cars.
It's best to cover your work/play area with a large mat or with several newspapers. Place your paper at the center. Let kids have fun playing and drawing with the toy cars.
