Making a Paper Square
A lot of origami, kirigami, and other paper crafts begin with a square. Learn how to turn any rectangular piece of paper such as A4 or Letter size paper into a perfect square with just a single fold and a cut.

Supplies Needed
- Any rectangular paper (e.g. A4 size or Letter size)
- Scissors
STEPS
1Prepare the paper.
Prepare a sheet of any rectangular paper (e.g. A4, Letter size or 9" x 12"). Position the paper upright or portrait-style.
2Fold down one top corner.
Fold down one top corner to meet the opposite edge, forming a triangle.
3Cut below the triangle.
Cut the excess paper below the triangle.
4Unfold the paper.
Unfold the triangle to reveal a perfect square.
