Yarn Hair
Create hair for homemade dolls or characters in your craft projects using yarn or strings.
Supplies Needed
- Yarn or strings
- Scissors
- Cardboard
STEPS
1 Prepare the yarn.
Prepare the colors of yarn you'd like to use to make the hair.
2 Wound the yarn around a board.
Find a piece of cardboard or thick paper to wound the yarn around. To make super-short yarn hair, I used a 4" tall paper envelope.
Wound the yarn around the board about 15 to 20 times.
To create long yarn hair, I used an 18" long cutting mat to wound the yarn around. Like the short yarn hair, I wound the yarn about 20 times around it.
3 Remove the yarn from the board.
Cut the end of the yarn from the main yarn ball. Carefully remove the yarn loops from the board, making sure to retain their shape.
4 Tie around the middle.
Use a short piece of yarn to tie the yarn loops around the middle.
5 Cut at the ends.
Cut the yarn loops on both ends.
7 Use for crafts.
Use the yarn hair to make doll's hair and other fun craft projects.
